Job summary
The Audit and Research Co-coordinator will assist in promoting and facilitating the delivery of high-quality Audit and Resarch and Development activity across the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and will ensure that all audit/research is conducted in full compliance with the UK Policy Framework for Health and Social Care Research and other statutory obligations.
The post holder will work with the Head of Audit and Research & Development and Research Governance, Audit and Contracts Manager to implement the Trust's Audit and R&D Strategy and national Research Governance policies and procedures. The post holder will have responsibility for the provision of research management support for both NIHR portfolio and non-portfolio studies.
The role will entail liaise with staff from all disciplines, internally at the ROH (research tissue bank applications, internally sponsored studies) and externally (other Trusts, commercial companies, research support networks etc) to deliver the safe, ethical, and legal approval of research projects. To support with this, you will engage with the EDGE research database to ensure that all data relating to the projects is entered accurately and in a timely manner.
Carrying out analytical reports to present at Audit governance meetings.
This is an office based non-clinical role.
Main duties of the job
- To complete analytical reports for ward/area clinical audits and NICE guidance.
- To assist researchers to develop and compose research protocols, making them suitable for regulatory approvals.
- To send research protocols through the internal peer review.
- To check Research Tissue Bank (RTB) applications for completeness and circulate to internal peer review.
- To collate individual responses from the peer review and liaise with the Head of R&D / Clinical Director for R&D when issuing an approval letter.
- To check NIHR portfolios for potential studies.
- To register new studies on the R&D database and/or EDGE.
- To support the generation of reports from the EDGE database to inform the wider department of study performance. This will help to identify any areas of success/failure.
- To facilitate and manage the AMaT Ward and Area reports monthly and liaise with head of nursing to identify areas of concern based on Audit findings.
- To register all new research projects (and study amendments) onto the Research & Development Database and ensure that the database is kept up-to-date throughout the lifetime of the research project.
- To liaise with the local investigator(s) and/or research team to complete Local Information Pack documents as required.
- To be proactive and a positive role model for junior members of staff.
- Be involved in the development of SOPs for post, so that others may act across in the absence of the post holder.
