We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic band 3 Theatre Decontamination Support to join our friendly and supportive team at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham.
To assist with the provision of sterile instruments to the operating theatres and be a link between the local Decontamination service and theatres.

To act as a link between Theatres and the local Decontamination service utilising excellent communication skills. To ensure efficient provision of sterile instruments required by theatres and to beresponsible for monitoring of requirements for new instrumentation required by theatres.

Job responsibilities
This is not an exhaustive list of duties, and a regular review will take place with the post holder as part of their ongoing development and performance management.
- To act as a link between Theatres and the local Decontamination service utilising excellent communication skills.
- Ensure efficient provision of sterile instruments required by theatres.
- Be responsible for monitoring of requirements for new instrumentation required by theatres.
- Be responsible for the organisation of instrument repairs via a third -party provider ensuring all documentation is correctly completed and retained.
- Communicate with theatre staff and consultants on any issues with the decontamination of the sterile instruments.
- Liaise with Decontamination provider on any issues which may impact theatres and patient care.
- Ensure all instruments are checked and correct prior to being sent to the Decontamination provider.
- Complete audits set by supervisor and Theatre Sterile Services Manager.
- Assist the supervisor with any requests for loan equipment ensuring the correct documentation is completed in a timely manner ready for use . Assist with checking the loan equipment is complete on return from decontamination prior to going back to the loan company ensuring correct documentation is completed for traceability.
- Ensure all dirty trollies are ready for collection at the designated time and the clean instrument trolleys are emptied and checked for any trays with holes or wet trays in a timely manner.
- Ensure all non-conformances are checked and any further investigations are made and reported accordingly.
- Ensure the sterile instrument areas are kept clean and tidy and free of clutter.
- Be a point of contact for theatres and the decontamination provider at all times who will liaise with supervisor / Manager.
- Assist the theatre teams with their instrument requirements for the days lists.
- Responsible for the repatriation and documentation for the replacement of any missing instrumentation.
- Correct Completion of all documentation for adding new instruments to the system ensuring all procedures are followed.
- Responsible for any tray requirements for the priority lists for the next day.
- Be able to assist theatres with fast tracking of trays required due to unavailability.
