Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Network Infrastructure Engineer to become an integral part of the ROH IT Department. Responsible for the reliable day to day operation and availability of the Trust's core systems, servers, networking, storage and associated applications.
Work with the Infrastructure Team Leader, Digital Architect and IT Security Manager to assist in the evaluation and deployment of new systems to support strategic objectives and projects, including the associated planning, implementation, integration and security objectives are dealt with appropriately.
You will have the ability to absorb complex technical information and communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences. Extensive knowledge of the system development lifecycle is a must, along with a good understanding of enterprise solutions. You will be well versed in both high- and low-level infrastructure design and show experience, and capability to deliver a group wide infrastructure strategy. As a snapshot you will be providing technical expertise for Server, wireless network systems, physical network layers, network security and datacenters.

- Coordinate and support an effective strategy with the Desktop Manager and 2nd line teams to maintain and secure the Thin, Full and Mobile client infrastructure, including the patch management of client solutions
- Coordinate and support with the Servicedesk Manager and 1st line teams to help provide strong and responsive solutions to front line service problems and development of new and effective desktop support solutions
- Coordinate and support the Project Team to deliver important trust applications and changes to services
- Coordinate and support the Infrastructure Team in delivering new solutions and resolving issues
- Coordinate and support the Security team in patching security vulnerabilities in our IT infrastructure where appropriate
Project Responsibilities
- Work with project managers, BI team and suppliers to support and implement technical programmes of work for the trust, while managing changing priorities
- Deliver assigned project elements as required within specified guidelines and timescales, following change control processes
- Assist in the delivery of project documentation where appropriate
- Represent IT and the IT Projects Team for projects involving other departments
General Responsibilities
- Ensure relevant documentation is created for new systems and applications including trouble-shooting guides, user manuals and maintenance operations
- Assist in maintaining the Active Directory environment, including Group Policy and assist the Infrastructure Team Leader where needed
- Keep up to date with current IT trends and technical press information and research technical solutions to inform and improve IT services both internally and for the Trust

- Support the Infrastructure Team Leader in developing a strong and robust networking strategy to support the trusts ongoing network requirements for Structured Cabling, Fibre, Firewalls, IPS/IDS, Routers, Wi-Fi and Cloud
- Proactively monitor and seek to improve the reliability of the Trusts network systems and work closely with all of the IT Teams to resolve complex multi element problems involving many systems or devices
- Support the Security Team in network security improvements and remediation
Virtualized Infrastructure Responsibilities
- Assist in the installation and configuration of all areas of our VMware virtualized environments and future on premises or cloud solutions
- Assist in maintaining the Horizon View VDI server environment and providing support to the Desktop Manager where needed
- Assist in maintaining, monitoring and optimizing of our virtualized systems and the hardware they are delivered on
- Assist in management of DR and failover configuration of VMware DRS and HA
Storage, Backup and DR Responsibilities
- Assist in managing our current (vSAN and Dell Compellent) and future virtualized and physical storage solutions
