Job summary
You would, along with interested Consultants, help to organise, design and deliver the teaching of the Perioperative Medicine module to medical students from Aston University. This is an exciting opportunity to have time and space to develop and deliver a teaching programme which would suit a dynamic and organised individual who has a strong interest in teaching and would put you in an ideal position for similar roles in the future.
We have 14 theatres offering a wide exposure to anaesthesia utilising a variety of skills and methods. Spinal surgery including scoliosis may involve one lung ventilation, the major oncological work would expose you to massive transfusion and prolonged surgery in challenging patients. There is a huge amount of regional and neuraxial experience to be gained. Options for professional development of the post holder include Perioperative Medicine and management experience. The post holder would be encouraged to enjoy their time here fully. The Perioperative Medicine clinic has 10 sessions of Consultant cover a week and a variety of challenges to experience. As it is a small hospital the working relationships with management are close and would provide interesting exposure for someone interested in medical leadership. We would hope that within a short time the successful candidate would become competent and then excellent at neuraxial and regional techniques due to high turnover and experience of the friendly and approachable Consultant colleagues.
