Job summary

An opportunity has arose for a Healthcare Support Worker vacancy on Surgical admissions Lounge

You are required to have the Cavendish Care Certificate in Health and Social care or a equivalent health care qualification to be eligible to apply for this role.

We will be looking for enthusiasm, drive and passion where the delivery of outstanding levels of care. You will have excellent communication skills and the flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of this busy area.

The successful candidate will be efficient, reliable and be able to work using their own initiative whilst being part of a team. You will be a motivated and confident healthcare support worker dedicated to assisting in the delivery and the development of an excellent service.

Please note this vacancy may close before the advertised closing date if a sufficient number of suitable applications are received.

Candidates will be required to evidence their qualification certificates to the interview panel.

Please note this role includes weekend and night working.

Main duties of the job

The Healthcare Support Worker will work as part of the ward team with supervision of registered practitioners to provide effective, safe patient focused care at all times.

Contribute to the development of the care environment with a positive, professional attitude.

Contribute to the maintenance of daily provision of service and care to meet the individual needs of patients and department.

To support the smooth running of the ward and ensure patients, relatives and carers are dealt with in a friendly and efficient manner.

You will ensure that policies and guidelines are adhered to.

Expected duties our Healthcare Support Workers provide in their role include:

Assisting patients with the provision of washing, dressing, personal care, beverages and/or meals.

Assisting qualified nursing and medical staff where requested.

Communicate with all members of the team to maintain a good service provision.

Ensure that all patients are able to meet their hygiene needs, providing a level of assistance appropriate to the individual.

Prepare and support the patient appropriately during any activity that is to be undertaken.

Alert the registered nurse where you notice any changes in the patients health and well-being or any possible risks.

Undertake observations/tasks such as patient temperature, weighing, skin care and nutrition and hydration checks as directed

Ensure effective use of material resources/supplies within the ward/unit in consultation with senior staff.

Assist with the general cleaning and re-stocking of resources where appropriate as well as cleaning and preparing patients beds.

Contribute to own personal development and take an active part in learning opportunities.
