Job summary
We are looking for a Band 5 Staff Nurse to work on the Same day emergency care unit (SDEC) on a fixed term basis for an experienced medical or emergency care nurse.
The post holder will provide the highest standards of care and demonstrate our Trust values, putting our patients at the heart of everything you do. In return for your dedication we offer a full training.
This vacancy is open to all internal and external candidates. NHS Employees should ideally secure their manager's agreement for a secondment arrangement ideally prior to applying, as this will be a condition of any offer made. This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term basis to provide cover for an employee on Secondment and will end on 27-Apr-26 or when the substantive postholder returns. Whilst this post is advertised on an fixed term basis there is the potential that this post may become permanent in the future.

Main duties of the job
Under the supervision of the ward manager the nurse is responsible for the provision, organisation and direction of nursing care of the patients in their care.
The post holder will be required to communicate effectively with all members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and high quality care is provided to all patients.

This entails the risk assessment of all situations, the taking of appropriate actions and reporting of all incidents, near misses and hazards, and a statutory duty of care for their own personal safety and that of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions.
Responsibility for Teaching
- Take personal responsibility for developing and maintain own knowledge, clinical skills and professional awareness in conjunction with NMC guidance.
- Attend mandatory training as directed by Trust.
- In conjunction with the ward manager, help create and maintain a suitable learning environment for staff and students and act as a mentor in the supervision and teach of less experienced staff.
