Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust are currently recruiting for a Domestic Assistant based at Royal Albert Edward Infirmary
The post will be working 22.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 17.30 - 22.00).

This vacancy is open to all internal and external candidates. NHS Employees should ideally secure their manager's agreement for a secondment arrangement ideally prior to applying, as this will be a condition of any offer made. This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term basis, it has been established to provide cover for an employee on secondment and will end on 31-May -2025 or when the substantive postholder returns. Whilst this post is advertised on a fixed term / secondment basis there is the potential that this post may become permanent in the future.)
Main duties of the job
The post holder is responsible for carrying out specific cleaning and other related duties, following set procedure and standards to provide and maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the hospital and designated wards or departments.
To perform domestic duties including:
- General cleaning.
- Isolation cleaning.
- High and low dusting.
- Wet and dry mopping.
- Clean toilets, baths and washbasins.
- Emptying clinical and general waste bins and placing bags in designated areas.
- Vacuum Cleaning.
- Scrubbing and buffing floors with mechanical machine.
- Carpet shampooing.
- Using chemicals and cleaning equipment responsibly and within health and safety guidelines.
- Maintaining staff and public safety through appropriate use of warning signage whilst cleaning.

- To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering high standards of cleaning within both the clinical and non-clinical areas.
- To clean specific areas in line with Trust policy and national cleaning standards.
- To provide a cleaning service in accordance with approved methods, standards and frequencies.
- To provide support to terminal cleans/infection cleans ensuring conversance with infection control & procedures in respect of all cleaning duties.
- The removal and cleaning up of uncontained body fluid spillages in line with Trust policy and national cleaning standards.
