Job summary
We are recruiting for a part time Specialty Doctor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for 4 sessions each week.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will actively contribute to the delivery of the Oral and Maxillofacial Service within the directorate, maintaining a high standard of care. The successful candidate may be required to work across both the Wigan acute site and the Day Case Elective unit at Leigh Infirmary. The post holder will be expected to play a full part in complying with all aspects of clinical governance.
The appointees shall have completed a minimum of Minimum 3 years SHO /DCT Grade in the Speciality.
Upon appointment the post holder will be required to agree a job plan with the Clinical Lead. As services are developed and changed, the base of posts may alter and any employee of the Trust will be expected, within an agreed clinical strategy, to move his/her sessions as the service requires

Royal Albert Edward Infirmary (also known as Wigan Infirmary)
In-patient facilities include all the acute beds for general medicine, paediatrics, general surgery, ENT, urology, orthopaedics, pelvic trauma, oral surgery and paediatric ophthalmology. Both general medicine and general surgery have established emergency assessment units.
The Accident and Emergency Department services the entire Trust, and also functions as a Trauma Unit.
Leigh Infirmary
This is situated about 8 miles east of Wigan.
This has operating theatres. These theatres provide for day case only. Specialties covered are gynaecology, urology, ophthalmology, general surgery, plastics, dental surgery, and chronic pain. Both general and local anaesthetic techniques are used.
The Chronic Pain Service also has facilities at Leigh.
