Job summary

The post holder will support and assist the Estates Manager in the delivery of an efficient and effective high quality Operational Estates service upon the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary site and other Trust sites as required.

The post holder will manage and supervise maintenance contracts and directly employed labour, servicing, testing, validation, verification, maintenance and repair of buildings, engineering systems and grounds in line with Trust procedures.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for undertaking an Operational Estates Officer role at their appointed WWL base site and other WWL sitesas / when required.

The post holder will be responsible for working in close liaison with Estates Manager(s) and fellow Estates Officers.

The post holder will be responsible for organising, supervising and coordinating repair, maintenance and minor works activities undertaken by the directly employed labour workforce and external contractors.

The post holder will be responsible for organising, supervising and coordinating Trust service providers and contractors carrying out repair, maintenance and minor works activities.

The post holder will be required to undertake audits and condition surveys of the Estates built environment and associated engineering services and produce report documents based upon the findings of those activities.

The post holder will deputise for the site Operational Estates Manager as required during periods when the Operational Estates Manager in engaged in other business, and during periods of holidays and sickness.

The post holder will analyse and interpret complex facts and information relating to Estates activities (including the wider operational implications across the organisation), satisfactorily meeting statutory / mandatory requirements, managing conflicting demands, managing the efficient allocation of labour and resources and managing, undertaking and interpreting complex fault finding and diagnosis activities.

  • Completed an approved training programme to a minimum of HND in Electrical / Mechanical engineering Or equivalent work experience.
  • Evidence of continuous professional and personal development (CPD).

Desirable

  • IOSH (Institute of Safety and Heath) Certificate.
  • Be a member of a professional association.
  • ECDL, European Computer Driving Licence.

Experience

Essential

  • Evidence of extensive equipment maintenance experience
  • Specialist equipment training on complex multi-parameter Hospital equipment.
  • Evidence of experience gained working in a relevant health care environment.
  • Will ideally have some prior experience of working in a hospital operational maintenance environment.

Desirable

  • Evidence of maintenance experience gained working in a relevant health care environment

  • Ability to work with other professions.
  • Must be able to work independently using own initiative.
