Job summary

Are you an Electrician with an electrical trade background?

We provide a wide range of operational estates repair / maintenance, minor works and capital project services across the Hospitals sites. We are looking for an experienced Operational Estates Maintenance Worker (Electrical) with an electrical trade background to assist both our employed workforce and external contractors in the maintenance and repair of the Hospitals built environment.

This is a permanent position for37.5 hours per week

Standard working hours are Monday- Friday 8am- 4pm

The post holder will also be required to take part in the Operational Estates Department's emergency on-call rota outside of normal working hours.

Main duties of the job

Applicants should be time served in an appropriate discipline preferably electrical maintenance or electrical installation. You should be able to demonstrate in depth knowledge of electrical and electro-mechanical systems, including HVAC, fire detection, electrical infrastructure and distribution systems.

In addition, you should be able to demonstrate significant knowledge and ability in other maintenance disciplines outside of your care craft skills. You should be willing to undertake further formal or informal personal developments to enhance your skills and knowledge to ensure you can provide the highest standards of service to our patients, staff and visitors.

The position will primarily be located at the Wrightington Hospital site, but the post holder will also provide support to our Operational Estates services across the wider Trust sites.

The role will require you to work across all areas in the Trust which includes those that are designated as positive, asymptomatic and negative COVID wards.

The post holder will carry out statutory testing and Planned Preventative Maintenance on electrical services and equipment and complete relevant records. This will require a complete understanding of engineering systems, plant and equipment in NHS buildings.

The post holder must be able to refer to and understand electrical technical drawings and specifications, interpret technical manuals, assist in commissioning, problem solving and communicate technical knowledge to other trade groups and external contractors.

The post holder will provide an effective and efficient maintenance repair service to a high standard on the full range of building fabric, electrical services, plant and equipment within their trade discipline and other disciplines within their capability, which will involve the use of fine instrumentation and equipment. This will include work on HVAC, fire detection, essential and non-essential small power and lighting systems, electrical infrastructure distribution systems, emergency standby generators and equipment contained within the mortuary, theatres, and other hospital locations.

The position will primarily be located at the Wrightington Hospital site but the post holder will also provide support to our Operational Estates services across the wider Trust sites.

  • Completed a recognised electrical craft apprenticeship.
  • Qualification to a minimum of NVQ Level 3. (E.g. B-TEC ONC or CGLI Advanced Craft Level)
  • Completed AM1 & AM2 assessment.
