Job summary
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Public Health or Consultant in Public Health you will have responsibility for leading key public health programmes, providing public health expertise and leadership for improving health outcomes and reducing health inequalities through delivery of action, influence and advice to the Council, NHS and other Wigan partners. Working flexibly on an ongoing basis, you will have responsibility across a broad portfolio, adapting to service and transformation needs as required. We currently have two posts available.

Main duties of the job
- Provide strategic leadership for a portfolio of public health programmes to improve health and
tackle complex health inequalities, in line with evidence and best practice and based on an
understanding of local need.
Lead, facilitate and influence multi-agency partnerships to effectively drive improvements in
health outcomes and reduce health inequalities for our residents.
Lead, manage and supervise projects that consist of cross directorate colleagues and multi agency partners to solve complex public health challenges. This requires responsibility for
supervising work areas and progress against key milestones and challenging timeframes.
Deputise for the Assistant Director of Public Health/Consultant in Public Health and represent the
service at strategic level in both internal and external settings.
Ensure you operate within GDPR guidelines by regularly reviewing data held and destroying
information in line with retention schedules
