Job summary

We are looking to recruit a motivated, flexible, Qualified Counsellor, preferably with experience of counselling NHS staff in an Occupational Health or Staff Wellbeing environment to be based in Wigan, with potential for working at other sites in Trust footprint.

The employer is Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The successful candidate will have experience in working in a person-centered or integrative approach and dealing with a range of personal, work and stress related issues. The post entails providing counselling sessions and fulfilling service administration duties.

The post is a temporary contract for up to 30 hours per week. This post is fixed term for 12 months covering maternity leave.

There is the possibility of working remotely for some sessions, however ability to provide face-to-face sessions is essential.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Diploma/Degree in Person Centred Counselling or Integrative Counselling
  • BACP Accreditation or working towards accreditation

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of providing psychological therapies for work-realted issues and supporting clients with general mental health and wellbeing
  • Experience of working in short term, time limited therapy and managing own caseload.
  • Experience of delivering assessment sessions including safeguarding risk assessments
  • Evidence of continuous professional development

Skills

Essential

  • Ability to demonstrate empathy, congruence, unconditional positive regard and acceptance in a therapeutic environment
  • Ability to offer advice and education regarding a wide range of mental health topics in a presentation or group setting
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Effective communication skills
  • Effective planning and organisational skills
  • Ability to build rapport with a wide range of people and work at relational depth
  • Competent IT skills including Microsoft Office programmes e.g. Word, Access and Excel
  • Ability to maintain and protect confidential, sensitive information appropriately
