Job summary

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Nurse/Clinical Practitioner to join our Surgical Ambulatory Emergency Care team at the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary in Wigan.

We are proud to boast the new, purpose built assessment area which provides a streamlined service for all patients requiring surgical review. The unit offers access to surgical same day emergency care and aims to reduce the time a person may have to stay in hospital.

Main duties of the job

We are looking to recruit a Nurse/Clinical Practitioner to join our exciting new Surgical Ambulatory Emergency Care Unit (SAEC) based on the Wigan site. The successful candidate will have previous experience of working with a similar service, have extended accredited clinical skills and a proven track record. The successful candidate will be able to work autonomously, and be able to assess, diagnose and devise and implement a plan of clinical care for surgical patients who are referred to the unit.

The surgical workforce will provide support and review of all patients, and there will be a team of practitioners working alongside the successful candidate within the ambulatory unit. The unit is in operation 7 days per week and you will be required to work a range of shift patterns to ensure smooth running of the service.

There will be an educational framework that you will be expected to maintain, and there will be opportunities to access professional development pertinent to the role. You will be expected to support the unit lead in developing our surgical services; to produce clinical pathways, to take part in audits and reviews to ensure that our service delivery is effective and appropriate, and ensure our patients receive the right care at the right time.

This advert may close early if sufficient applications are received.
