Job summary

The post holder will be a key member of the Infection Prevention and Control Team providing advice to patients and healthcare employees across three hospital sites and the community setting. There is an expectation that the post holder will cover on-call on a rotational basis.

Main duties of the job

Utilising specialist knowledge and methodologies the post holder will implement national surveillance programmes across the Trust with support from the wider team (for example, Public Health England's requirement on gram negative bacteraemia), ensuring data quality and accurate reporting.The post holder will administer the Infection Prevention and Control audit programme using appropriate databases to analyse and interpret data and help prepare and deliver reports for presentation and/or publication within an agreed timescale.The post holder will work as a Nurse Specialist and contribute to an effective and efficient service for the prevention, surveillance, and control of infection in Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust. They will be a key member of the Infection Prevention and Control Team providing advice to patients and healthcare employees.The post encompasses a significant level of nursing education, training, and leadership responsibilities within the Trust.The post holder will work effectively as an autonomous practitioner in line with the application of Trust Infection Prevention and Control policies and be supported by the wider Infection Prevention and Control Team.

  • Practising 1st Level Registered Nurse registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
  • 1st Level Degree in health-related subject (or working towards)

  • Recognised teaching & assessing qualification, or evidence of delivering teaching packages
  • Willing to undertake a post-Registration qualification in infection control.

Desirable
