Job summary
Applications are invited for a Consultant Orthodontist at Wrightington Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The vacancy is based on a part-time Orthodontic Consultant of 6PAs. The successful candidate will join a vibrant team including: a full-time Consultant Orthodontist, 3 orthodontic therapists and one orthodontic specialist. The role will be part of an established, multidisciplinary team including orthodontists, OMFS consultants, Oral Surgery consultant and specialists, and trainees.
Applicants will have full registration with the GDC, and on the GDC Specialist List in orthodontics. The applicant must have MOrth or equivalent, completed or within 6 months of attaining ISFE (orthodontics) or equivalent at time of interview.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will join a busy unit to provide orthodontic services to patients within the department. This will include new patient assessment clinics, treatment clinics, and MDT clinics with Oral Surgeons and Oral & Maxillofacial surgeons.
The successful candidate with be involved with clinical supervision of Orthodontic Therapists and Specialists, and will be expected to take an active role in teaching and support of trainees in the department.

The department provides a specialist orthodontic service for patients referred from both primary care (GDS, PDS and specialist practitioners) and consultant colleagues. A full range of services is provided for patients of all ages. The department has a significant caseload of patients with multidisciplinary problems, and joint clinics are regularly held with oral surgery and OMFS colleagues.

- Successful completion of an SAC approved minimum 3 year training programme in Orthodontics marked by a Specialist Membership in orthodontics (or equivalent)
- Possession of Certificate of Accreditation or eligibility for a CCST in Orthodontics
- Evidence of successful completion of a SAC approved, 2 year minimum Senior StR training programme in Orthodontics or equivalent) or within 6 months of completion.

- Fellowship in Dental Surgery or membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery (or equivalent)
