Job summary

Due to progression within the team, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and dynamic Band 6 Specialist OT to join our team based at Wigan and Leigh Hospice. We are an NHS team of Allied Health Professionals who specialise in the rehabilitation of patients with complex problems due to a cancer diagnosis or cancer treatment and those with a specialist palliative care need. You will be supported by 2 other occupational therapists on the team, 3 physiotherapists, a therapy support worker, dietitian, speech and language therapist and an admin support worker.

This is a part time role (30 hours) working 4 days across Monday to Friday.

Main duties of the job

You will be working as part of a supportive interdisciplinary team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapist, Dietitian, Rehabilitation support worker and an admin support worker. There are excellent training and development opportunities, as well as a robust supervision and appraisal system our goal is to develop highly skilled professionals develop both clinically and non-clinically. The appropriate candidate will also be required to demonstrate a strong commitment to student education.

The Successful Candidate should:

  • be a registered Occupational Therapist with the HCPC (Health Care Professions Council)
  • have considerable post-qualification experience
  • have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of Occupational Therapy process / interventions and an ability to apply these skills
  • have experience in the field of Palliative care / Rehabilitation
  • have experience of continued professional development
  • have experience of service development, audit and research
  • be able to effectively work as part of a team
  • have excellent communication and time management skills
  • be passionate about student education
