CONSULTANT ORTHODONTIST
A Consultant Orthodontist is sought to complement the existing dental team. The vacancy is based on a full-time orthodontic consultant of 10PA's with 3 of these PA's working at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will replace a full-time consultant orthodontist who will be retiring. The role will be part of a established, multidisciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
The role will require you to work on the Royal Albert Edward infirmary site including areas designated as COVID positive, asymptomatic and negative.
Applicants will have full registration with the GDC, and on the GDC Specialist List in orthodontics. The applicant must have BDA / MOrth or equivalent, completed or within 6 months of attaining ISFE (orthodontics) or equivalent at time of interview.
About us
The Royal Albert Edward Infirmary (Wigan Infirmary), provides in-patient acute beds for Medicine, Paediatrics, ENT, General Surgery, Gynaecology, Trauma, Pelvic Trauma, Breast Surgery and Urology. In addition, the Obstetric Unit is based here and there is an Accident and Emergency Department which also functions as a Trauma Unit.
Wrightington Hospital is where most of the elective Orthopaedic Surgery is performed, as well as accommodating the Rheumatology service. This is a Tertiary referral Orthopaedic centre of Excellence.
Leigh Infirmary functions as a Day Case Unit and a Diagnostic and Treatment Centre - The Hanover.
The Trust serves a population of 320,000 in surprisingly rural surroundings on the western edge of the Greater Manchester conurbation. The Borough is bordered by the M6, M61 and M62 motorways as well as the main west coast rail line, providing excellent access to the Pennines, Lake District, and North West coastline.

- ?Entry on GDC Specialist List in Orthodontics
- ?Successful completion of an SAC approved minimum 3 year training programme in Orthodontics marked by a Specialist Membership in orthodontics (or equivalent)
- ?Possession of Certificate of Accreditation or eligibility for a CCST in Orthodontics
- ?Evidence of successful completion of a SAC approved, 2 year minimum Senior StR training programme in Orthodontics (or equivalent) or within 6 months of completion.
