TheShropshire, Telford and Wrekin CAMHS services into a new chapter, with a range of exciting job opportunities available.Our newly developed CHARM (Children's Health and Resilience in Mental Wellbeing) Service will be an early intervention offer to children and young people with mild to moderate health and mental wellbeing problems.

We are recruiting two full-time Peer Support Worker positions (37.5 hours per week) for highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals who have lived experience of mental health difficulties during childhood or adolescence, along with experience of accessing support for these needs.

As valued members of the CHARM multi-disciplinary team, you will use your lived experience to support children and young people on both a one-to-one and group basis. You will help them explore their own goals and personalised recovery, while working collaboratively with the wider team to develop and co-facilitate the support offer.

We have options to work at Severnfields in Shrewsbury or Langley School in Telford.

Main duties of the job

  • To work directly with an identified caseload of children, young people and their families through a range of methods including, video/telephone call, text and in person face to face sessions
  • To work with identified children, young people and their families and members of the wider MDT to ensure care plans are truly co-produced.
  • To draw on own lived experience to offer understanding, support and hope to children, young people and their families accessing the service and promote independence and recovery.
  • Contribute to the overall care of children, young people and their families, helping to identify any early warning signs of deteriorating wellbeing by monitoring an individual's mental health, level of functioning and mental state, escalating any areas of concerns to the relevant senior staff member
  • Drawing on personal experience to help children, young people and their families to identify their strengths and triggers and supporting them to establish the things that are important to them in their life, identifying goals and the steps they wish to take to achieve them
  • Supporting children, young people and their families to identify and overcome any barriers which may impact their recovery.
