MPFT Pharmacy and Medicines Optimisation Directorate are looking for a dynamic, forward-thinking pharmacist to join the team as our Lead Pharmacist for Education, Training & Patient Safety.
As Lead Pharmacist, you will provide clinical and professional leadership to enable the delivery of the Pharmacy Education and Training strategy and lead the education, training and continual professional development of our pharmacy workforce across the organisational footprint. The post holder will be an experienced clinical practitioner leading on the provision of expert practice in medicines optimisation ensuring better value and improved patient outcomes. The post holder will lead on developing and delivering high-quality education programmes supporting multiple professional disciplines across the organisation. In conjunction with the Trust Medicines Safety officer, you will lead on embedding the principles of medicines safety and medicines optimisation into clinical practice and contribute to policy developments to support safe practice.
Main duties of the job
As a senior member of the clinical team, you will be expected to represent the Trust and participate in relevant local, regional and national sector wide forums related to pharmacist education/training and medicines optimisation. You will provide expert advice, clinical supervision and training to the pharmacy workforce and have an opportunity to contribute to research and development projects within the service.
This role will be extremely rewarding, and requires a motivated, dynamic individual who is experienced in working at an operational and clinical level with a range of stakeholders and a track record for service development and delivering to agreed targets. The successful candidate will be provided with the support of a well-established team, opportunities to develop and embed their careers, and to make a difference to patients' lives.
You will be a qualified pharmacist registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council and have excellent interpersonal and IT skills. Some mentor or management experience is desirable, but full training in this area will be provided. This is a full-time post although part time hours or a job share will be considered.
The working hours are 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday with limited late shift duties and Bank Holiday commitments. On call commitments include a remote out-of-hours advice only 'on call' service (rota basis). The post holder may be required to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.
