Mental Health Healthcare Support Worker (Brocton Adult Acute Ward)

Job summary

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Band 2 Healthcare Support Worker to join our adult acute mental health ward, Brocton House at St George's Hospital based in Stafford.

Brocton House is a 20 bed inpatient facility for working age adults with acute mental health problems. We also provide a 6 bed 'Whittington Suite' for serving military personnel.

We provide inpatient facilities for working age adults with acute mental health problems and we are looking for caring, compassionate individual to work within our acute service who are committed to providing high quality care and treatment to our patients.

Working in an acute environment can be challenging, but with the right team, positive attitude and resilience we are proud to provide high quality patient care to support people during their most difficult times.

This role offers a unique development opportunity to complete a dedicated programme of learning designed specifically for inpatient Mental Health Support Workers. Upon successful completion you will progress to the top of a Band 3. This is usually completed within 6-12 months.

Main duties of the job

As a Band 2 Healthcare Support Worker you will provide support, and spend therapeutic time with an allocated group of service users with mental health needs.

As part of this role, you will:

  • Promote service user's recovery through the delivery of high quality, outcome measured care and evidence based interventions.
  • Assist Registered Professionals in the implementation and evaluation of individualised care plans
  • Regularly report and effectively communicate service users' health status and care aims in care records and verbal reports to Registered Professional Staff members and other members of the multi-disciplinary team, including while supporting section 136 assessments and ECT treatment

  • Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care ORNVQ 2 in Health and Social Care with demonstrable evidence of numeracy and literacy skills (equivalent GCSE's or Functional Skills) OR Demonstrable experience
