Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Autism Nurse Practitioner to join our Children and Young Peoples Autism Service in South Staffordshire.
We are seeking a compassionate, knowledgeable, and experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary team dedicated to supporting families and children either with a diagnosis of autism or that are currently on the assessment pathway.
You will work directly with children and young people with Autism and their families, carrying out assessments (including risk management) and effective treatment and/or interventions, with the aim of helping children and young people participate in daily family life and community activities and to facilitate positive outcomes of care in relation to children and young people's needs.
You will advocate for and assist with the delivery of a high standard of nursing care to CYP referred to the team including physical health assessment, monitoring and intervention, and will implement agreed systems for the monitoring of effectiveness of care. You will also participate in the education and management of junior staff and students.
This is a dynamic post that requires you to work closely with multidisciplinary/agency teams in addressing a range of issues with children and young people who may have Autism and other health needs i.e. physical health and/or mental health

Main duties of the job
- Supporting the CYP Autism MDT in the delivery of Autism assessments and interventions for CYP.
- Working directly with CYP families/ carers to deliver Autism assessments and effective treatment/ interventions aiming to help children and young people participate in daily family life and community activities, and to facilitate positive outcomes of care in relation to children and young people's needs.
- Supporting and developing the physical health monitoring of CYP with autism.
- Liaison with educational settings and other professionals.
- Contributing to multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Report writing: full neurodevelopmental assessments.
