Job summary

Have you an interest in paediatrics but have limited experience? Will you qualify in 2025 and have thought about working in paediatrics? If so, this could be the job for you!

The post is open to both experienced and newly qualified Physiotherapists with an interest in paediatrics. NHS experience is required - experience gained as an undergraduate physiotherapist on placement is applicable

This is an opportunity for a qualified Physiotherapist to develop their clinical and leadership skills within a friendly, supportive Paediatric Physiotherapy Team based in Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent. You will have the chance to develop skills managing a mixed caseload of children and young people with neurological, developmental and some musculoskeletal conditions, across both town and rural locations.

Learning and development opportunities are plentiful and encouraged for all members of the team. This includes support to become a clinical educator for the students who come to us on placement from Keele University.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will be part of the team providing assessment & intervention for children & young people with physical difficulties (0-19 years). We work in partnership with families & carers in a variety of settings including special and mainstream schools, patient's homes & community clinics.

  • As a community team covering a large geographical area, access to a car for work purposes and a UK driving license is essential. All work-related travel costs & expenses incurred will be reimbursed.

  • Use & develop your skills using a variety of approaches & treatment modalities, working closely with other disciplines to provide a child-centred, holistic approach to care. Participate in the development of other staff and of the service.

  • The post holder will undertake a physiotherapy role for assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based treatment programmes for children in the most appropriate location in the community.

  • Once clinically competent, you will be operationally responsible for your own clinical caseload and be responsible for the supervision of unqualified staff within your team. This post includes a minimum of 85% skilled clinical work and requires post holder to adapt to unpredictable changes and demands on the service.
