Job summary
Undertake a wide range of switchboard and receptionist duties which are based at different locations.
The post holder will be expected to undertake routine shifts. However, it must be emphasised that the incumbent of this post must be prepared to cover other receptionists when they are on annual leave, sick leave, by taking on their complete duty at short notice including night duty.
The post holder will be expected to work as part of the wider Administrative Team, providing an integrated and flexible service, and as such may sometimes be required to undertake duties within other areas of the department should the needs of the service demand it.
Main duties of the job
All telephonists/receptionists will be required to have a general understanding and ability to carry out all tasks below however some tasks may not be required at all locations:
o Operate the Trust 24hr switchboard and to take relevant set actions in the event of system failure.o Operate and update the directory.o Operate and control the staff paging systems.o Operate the panic alarm systems.o Receive and deal with general reception enquiries: this may include listening to and responding to straightforward information or queries and enquiries dealing with visitors (staff, service users, visitors, contractors), answering the telephones, taking and forwarding messages.o Undertake data inputting, general typing, clerical/administration duties and other tasks to support the Facilities and Estates team.
