Job summary
BeeU Children and Young People's Mental Health Service is looking for a psychologist to work in our Learning Disability and Intensive Support teams, providing support to young people with a Learning Disability (LD) and/or Autismpresenting with behaviours of concern and/or mental health needs.
This job will be considered as a Band 7 - Band 8a preceptorship.
This is an fantastic chance to join a highly motivated, committed multi-disciplinary team, working alongside other psychologists, LD nurses, OT, SLT, Family Therapists, Positive Behaviour Support Practioners and Support Workers.
It is an exciting time to come and work in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin's Children, Young People and Families Services. We have received additional investment to improve the support available. As a result, we are pleased to be able to advertise a number of new roles both substantive and fixed-term posts. We can welcome clinicians who want to work in Children's Mental Health Services. Where people are interested in applying but would need to relocate, we can support with associated incentives. Where people are interested and passionate about working with children but have identified additional training, we may be able to train staff to develop the appropriate skills.
With a growing psychology team across BeeU we are able to provide a robust supervision structure and opportunities for continuing professional development.
Main duties of the job
- To support the provision of a high quality, multi-disciplinary service to children and young people with an LD and/or autism referred to the BeeU LD team and/or IST.
- To provide a psychological service to children and young people with an LD and/or Autism and their families, within a multidisciplinary team and a multi-agency context.
- To provide specialist psychological assessment for young people referred to the service based on the use of appropriate assessment tools, psychological formulation and delivery of intervention with young people, their families and carers and the system around them.
- To work with colleagues across the BeeU service offering consultation and providing support around psychological formulation'
- To work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the service policies and procedures. In doing so, you will be responsible for adhering to relevant Trust policies and professional ethics and standards and will be accountable for professional and clinical actions.
