Job summary

Band 3 Assistant Care Act Assessor based in Lichfield - covering Lichfield and Tamworth localities.

Full-Time Hours 37.5 per week.

This is an exciting and valuable role supporting social care practitioners within the Tamworth & Lichfield Adult Social Care teams to execute their duties and responsibilities under The Care Act, 2014. This role is an ideal entry level opportunity for anyone who is interested developing a career in social care/social work.

The successful applicant will support members of the team in delivering practical, time limited enabling support to service-users and their carers with the aim of maximising independent living. An example of the expectations of the role might be to support and build a rapport with someone who is reluctant to initially accept social work intervention and support them to improving their health, well-being and living situation. You will work with the person to identify achievable goals and objectives and build up that professional working relationship. Being able to build rapports and trust with people whilst applying professional boundaries is key. There will be no role or requirement to support with personal care.

Main duties of the job

Referrals will be made to the successful candidate by members of the team and you will be required to work closely with colleagues giving regular updates and report any concerns or risk to the allocated practitioner. You will be fully supported by all of the team and you will have access to formal, regular monthly supervision.

You will be required to contribute to the review of a person's progress and a good standard of literacy and computer skills is essential as you will need to ensure accurate and concise recording. The role will be varied and you may also be required to accompany the allocated practitioner to safeguarding meetings to provide updates.

Working with other professionals will be a key part of the role, as is confidence and the ability to empower a person so they can make positive changes to their lives. This will be a very rewarding role and there are career progression opportunities within the Midlands Partnership Foundation Trust so this role may just be the start of your rewarding career in social care journey.

You will need a full clean driving licence and access to car.
