The closing date is 12 January 2025
Job summary
We are looking for an OT to fill a new, exciting role offering an opportunity to work with children & young people with an LD who are experiencing mental health &/or behaviours of concern, & also, more intensively, with a small group of young people with LD &/or Autism presenting with high levels of risk, where behaviours of concern are impacting significantly on their quality of life.
The role provides a great opportunity to utilise core OT skills, & also to use &/or develop skills in sensory integration (SI). The service is lucky enough to have a new, dedicated space for Ayres sensory integration treatment.
You will work within an experienced & committed MDT & alongside another experienced OT & Advanced SI Practitioner. We also have a wider AHP structure within BeeU including SLTS, dietitians, OTS & Art Therapy.
It is an exciting time to come and work in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin's Children, Young People & Families Services. We have received additional investment to improve the support available. As a result, we are pleased to be able to advertise a number of new roles both substantive & fixed-term posts. We can welcome clinicians who want to work in Children's Mental Health Services. Where people are interested in applying but would need to relocate, we can support with associated incentives. Where people are interested and passionate about working with children but have identified additional training, we may be able to train staff to develop the appropriate skills.
Main duties of the job
- Delivering a high quality clinical service to children, their families and carers requiring the expertise of the Learning Disability (LD) and Intensive Support Teams (IST).
- Managing a complex caseload and responsible for clinical supervision of other team members where identified

- Provide specialist OT clinical advice, assessment and interventions based on the young person's occupational and functional needs.
- OT Interventions provided will be within the practitioner's sphere of competency and their major skill set. The use of Sensory assessments and interventions are seen as an integral part of service provision within the LD and IST teams.
