Job summary
Bank Staff within the NHS are employed staff without set contracted hours. In the Portering team we utilise these staff to pick up shifts that are not able to be covered by our substantive staff on an ad hoc basis. We aim to give as much notice as possible for these shifts, but requests may be made at short notice to cover absences such as sickness.
MPFT Facilities & Estates Portering team are currently recruiting for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and well organised Porter to join our team.
The post holder will provide an efficient and effective portering service, working in a self-motivated and professional manner at all times.
This post is based at the The Redwoods Centre, Shrewsbury SY3 8DS
The role involves being flexible and working shift patterns covering a 7 day week shift pattern (37.5 hours per week, core hours of 08:00 - 17:00)
Main duties of the job
Portering:? Maintain stock control? Unload, check and sign for incoming goods against official paperwork? Deliver, issue and collect orders and supplies to/from wards and departments for example linenservice, patient meals, diet lists, mail, internal mail, stationery, general stores, disposables andconsumables, medical supplies, clinical specimens and medical equipment, furniture and equipment? Deal with enquiries/requests both internally and externally? Maintain and keep up to date records in relation to duties? Collect refuse and clinical waste around the site and ensure its safe storage and disposal? Contribute to the provision of reports and schedules including undertaking general asset registercounts? Keep stores and portering work areas/office clean and tidy? Sort internal mail, Royal Mail delivery and frank outgoing post as required? Carry out furniture moves within and off site? Carry out ad hoc cleaning as per work schedule or requested by supervisor? Set up meeting and seminar rooms as required
