Based at Redwoods Centre in Shrewsbury, you will lead the team of Procurement Technicians and Pharmacy Support workers who are part of our wider Procurement team at both St Georges at Stafford and at Haywood Hospital in Stoke. You willwork closely with the Senior Leadership Team and be responsible for the development of our procurement services.
You will also be responsible for leading, supporting and developing the dispensary team at the Redwoods centre. The successful candidate will be fully supported to develop your leadership and management skills. We encourage and support our team to complete the PRINCE 2 training. In addition, you will be supported to undertake the Mental Health Therapeutics PgCert at Aston University.
The Trust provides both Mental and Physical Health services, and you will be provided with a wide range of opportunities to learn and develop, including opportunities for further learning in clinical and managerial skills.
Carrying out Accuracy Checking is a part of the role, and if you do not already hold this award, we will support the right candidate in achieving this.
You will work collaboratively with the dispensary managers at both St George's and Haywood to promote a safe and effective service and be supported by the Chief Pharmacy Technician.
Main duties of the job
To provide technical leadership on procurement in collaboration with theprocurement team (Technicians and Pharmacist) across all sites.
Day to day management and leadership of the dispensary staff at Redwoods site.
Effectively communicate with pharmaceutical wholesalers, manufacturers, homecare companies and external agencies ensuring efficient and cost-effective procurement and supply of medicines.
Communicate with pharmacy staff, other healthcare professionals and external customers on wide range of queries relating to procurement of medicines and homecare including changes to contracts; availability and cost of medicines (including controlled drugs, unlicensed medicines and specials); and supply issues or delays.
To perform the role of an experienced, registered, pharmacy technician including the provision of advice, supervision, mentoring with staff members under their direct line management (all technical staff).
Attend and participate in regional pharmacy procurement meetings and adjudication meetings regarding the tendering of medicines and services.
To lead the local dispensary team in providing a range of pharmacy medicines supply and advice services. Ensuring compliance with all legislation relating to medicines supply services, in a safe efficient and cost-effective manner.
