Job summary

The Midlands Partnership Foundation NHS Trust provides Speech and Language Therapy Services across the whole of Staffordshire, working with commissioners in both education and health services.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our team. The post is a 12 month fixed term contract post to cover maternity leave in the Community Paediatric Speech and Language Therapy Team in Cannock and surrounding areas. The post involves independently managing a clinical caseload. The post holder will be based at High Green Court, Cannock, and will predominantly cover clinics and schools in Cannock and Rugeley.

There will be some requirement to support children with complex needs in clinic and special schools. There may be some travel required to attend team meetings and supervision in other settings across the geographical area.

This post is suitable for experienced band 5 or current band 6 therapists looking for the opportunity to work in a large community team. Internal applications are welcome. Secondment opportunities can be explored.

The Children's Speech and Language Therapy Service is able tooffer excellent training and development opportunities, a friendly working environment and flexible working arrangements.

Main duties of the job

  • To adhere to and apply the Health and Care Professions Council's (HCPC) standards of proficiency and the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) code of ethics and professional conduct and all other relevant guidance from the HCPC, RCSLT and the Partnership Trust.

  • To be professionally accountable and responsible for all aspects of own work.

  • To establish and maintain effective working relationships both within the Partnership Trust and with external organisations in order to meet service requirements and support and demonstrate the Trust's equality values.

  • To participate in the coordination of the clinical management of the Speech and Language Therapy caseload in a defined area alongside clinical coordinators for the area.

  • To use professional knowledge and judgement to take into account the range of care/support packages and treatment options available.

  • To consider each service user's personal circumstances and preferences in order to implement and adjust programmes of care and intervention.
