Job summary

Children and Young People's Mental Health Services in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin have received additional investment to improve the support available. As a result, we are excited to advertise a number of new roles, to welcome clinicians who want to work in Children's Mental Health Services. Where people are interested in applying but would need to relocate we can support. Where people are interested and passionate about working with children but have identified additional training, we may be able to train staff to develop the appropriate skills.

We are looking to recruit a CAMHS practitioner, who has a keen interest in specialising with supporting looked after children. You will have an active role in providing Mental Health Consultation and Specialist advice to Social Workers and other care providers and be involved in carrying out assessments (including risk management) and holding a caseload, in which you will have the opportunity to deliver person centred effective treatment and interventions, with the aim of helping children and young people within the LAC system; develop skills and strategies to enable them to thrive.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will be embedded in social work team to improve the mental health of Looked After Children, Young People, their Carers and Families.
  • To provide highly specialist mental health advice and consultation to social workers and care providers to support practice and management of young people presenting with a range of complex needs.
  • Assessing and providing therapeutic interventions for young people who are classed as 'Looked After' under the care of a local authority.
  • Management of a caseload, which includes, assessment, care planning in conjunction with service user and carer/multi agencies and utilising service specific outcome measures to guide and evaluate effectiveness of individual treatment plans
