Estates Manager (Water Safety Specialist)

Job summary

A Water Safety Specialist is required to ensure Estates Operational compliance within the Estates and Facilities Directorate.

The focus will be on water management but will also lead on asbestos management and overseeing and reporting on compliance including appropriate professional appointments and audits.

Previous experience in a similar role would be an advantage, as would previous NHS experience.

Main duties of the job

Working as part of the Estates Management team, you will be a key member of the team looking to deliver high quality services across South Staffordshire, North Staffordshire and Shropshire for both MPFT and our partners and other out of area sites.

You will have strong technical contract management knowledge and experience, excellent communication skills, and proven ability to influence others. You will be proactive and committed to seeing projects through to completion.

You will be an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual with excellent interpersonal skills to support the Directorate of Estates and Facilities.

Reporting to the Head of Estates, the post holders duties include:

  • To be a Responsible Person and Appointed Person in line with HTMs
  • Lead on the directorate water safety requirements.
  • Lead on Asbestos Management.
  • To implement systems to ensure estates operational compliance with national standards including CQC, HTMs & other standards as required.
  • Ensure all Estates related Authorised Persons and Authorising Engineers are appropriately appointed and associated Audits acted on.
  • Monitor remedial work requirements emanating from reports and actively ensure timely completion.
  • Collate estates operational backlog schedules.
  • Linking with the Estates and Facilities Governance and Assurance Team and Estates Operational Managers monitor compliance across all Estates Operations and expedite any requirements to fulfil.
  • Ascertain the position of compliance for all Estates Operations functions against KPIs and produce / present periodic reports indicating such, including cause / effect with recommendations to address any gaps.

QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

Essential

  • Relevant post graduate professional qualification equivalent to Diploma / Degree level in an Estates discipline and in-depth practical experience or be able to demonstrate significant proven practical experience equivalent to this
  • Suitable project management qualification or comparable proven practical experience

Desirable

  • Experience of working in the NHS
  • Relevant professional membership(s)

EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Extensive knowledge and experience of managing Estates compliance requirements
  • Ability to demonstrate a proven track record in an associated discipline
  • Experience of writing of specifications
  • Experience of risk management processes
  • Experience of FM software (e.g. MICAD) systems
  • Successful delivery of change management initiatives

Desirable

  • Previous knowledge of the NHS including the modernisation agenda
  • Experience of working in NHS
  • Experience of the 'Premises Assurance Model'
