To deliver, as part of wider Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) high quality, timely and comprehensive mental health service for children and young people (CYP) with a range of complex mental healthneeds. To focus on evidence-based bio-psychosocial assessment and nursing specialist interventions, working towards evidence-based recovery. Ensuring the nursing profession is represented within the Multi-disciplinary approach to care. To provide the co-ordination andcollaboration in meeting the needs for a defined caseload working directly with CYP, their families/carers and external agenciesThe post holder will participate in the delivery of the agreed aims and objectives of the service and identify factors which may inhibit these from being achieved. They will assist in the delivery of ahigh standard of professional care. They will implement agreed systems for the monitoring of effectiveness of care. They will participate in the education and management of junior staff, including Students and preceptees for Nursing. They will participate in team and servicedevelopment and evaluation. Liaison, advice and consultation with a wide range of agencies are central to the role.

The Specialist Nurse Practitioner will have responsibility for providing clinical leadership to colleagues in the assessment, treatment and management of children and young people withacute mental health difficulties. Providing specialist assessment and clinically proven, evidence based interventions to children and young people presenting with high impact mental health difficulties. The post holder will offer advice and consultation regarding the management of theclient group to colleagues within the CYP service and in other agencies where appropriate and when required. It is expected that the post holder will spend at least 2/3 of their time in the delivery of direct/indirect clinical care.
-To provide specialist assessments of children and young people referred to the team based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological, self-report measures, rating scales, outcomemeasures, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the clients care.-The post holder will take a lead role in the development of clinical services for young people accessing CAMHS services, both referred to the team and those identified as requiring additional consultation.-The post holder would be an essential nursing member of the multi disciplinary team and will be able to facilitate the co-ordination of care on a multi-disciplinary basis to the service user.- The post holder will provide expert assessment, formulation and intervention and support to all children, young people and families referred to the service providing evidence based specialist interventions.-The post holder will formulate plans of care and negotiate the implementation of such plans and the sharing of complex, sensitive, confidential and at times contentious information e.g. child protection issues.-To be responsible for implementing a range of clinical interventions for children and young people, their carers, and families, within and across teams employed individually and in synthesis, adjusting and refining formulations drawing upon different explanatory modelsand maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses.-To evaluate and make decisions about treatment options taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family or group.-To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of Young people and families.-To provide specialist advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to clients formulation, diagnosis and treatment plan.-To contribute directly and indirectly to improving the understanding of child and adolescent mental health to the benefit of all patients of the service, across all settings and agencies serving the patient group.-To undertake collaborative risk assessment and risk management for individual Young people.-To act as care coordinator, where appropriate, taking responsibility for initiating planning and review of care plans collaboratively with young people , their families/carers Other services and across multi -agencies involved in their care.-To communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner.-To participate in the current and any future Duty and out of hours rota
