The successful candidate will be supported through a formal preceptorship process to progress from a Band 7 to a Band 8 over a period of 12 - 24 months dependent upon prior experience, and contingent on achievement of the required competencies.
We are open to applications from those approaching the end of training and people who are newly qualified looking for a Band 7 role. Main duties of the job
- To provide expert psychological assessment and reports, both written and verbal, to referrers of people with a wide range of psychological problems, in accordance with codes of professional ethics
- Following assessment, to provide expert formulation and psychological therapy to an exceptionally high standard to service users with a range of mental health problems.
- To formulate and implement plans for formal psychological intervention and/or management of a client's psychological difficulties, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the client's problems, and employing methods of proven efficacy, across the full range of care settings.
- To manage a specialist caseload autonomously and within the criteria directed by the Trust. To make difficult decisions about priorities and clinical issues.
- To act as a care coordinator where appropriate, taking responsibility for planning and review of care plans under enhanced CPA.

To provide a specialist clinical psychology service within pathway to adults their families or carers. To work with clients alone at the team base, in local NHS settings or other care environments, or at their home as necessary. Within this to be able to communicate highly complex information effectively in highly emotive situations and overcome psychological resistances to potentially threatening issues. To be responsible for conducting psychological interviews, deriving information from self-report measures, rating scales, psychometrics (where necessary), direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the clients care, interpreting complex data and giving feedback effectively and with sensitively. To be skilled in risk assessment and management. These demands will incorporate frequent intense concentration often in emotionally demanding or unpredictable environments. You will be expected to maintain high professional levels of clinical judgement and application of complex skills at all times.

- Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical / counselling psychology (or its equivalent prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, including models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology
- Good undergraduate degree (Preferably relevant to psychological therapy
- Postgraduate professional doctorate or equivalent relating to psychological services or equivalent as accredited by relevant professional body
- HPC registration as a clinical/counselling psychologist with Chartered Status
