Job summary

We have an exciting and rare 12-month secondment opportunity for a Therapy Assistant to join the South East Staffordshire Community Rehabilitation team.

You will be part of a small team who have been selected to support the SQuIRe Stroke project over the next 12 months. This post will support the scoping of a South East Staffordshire Stroke pathway for 6 months followed by delivery of a pilot pathway and evaluation. There will be a multidisciplinary team approach with funding for therapy and nursing staff approved to support this project

Main duties of the job

The role will take an integrated working approach liaising with our partners in secondary, primary and community care settings, the voluntary sector, and people with lived experience to ensure the patient pathway has a strong focus on patient centred care. A car driver is essential for this post due to the nature of our work.

You will:

  • Be competent as appropriate to the requirements of the role. Demonstrate at all times the Partnership Trust Values of: "We Put Quality First, We Focus on People and We TakeResponsibility."
  • Be a therapy assistant and understand the knowledge and skills required for the post.
  • Work with registered staff to provide a service for a defined population of service users in a variety of settings across the Partnership Trust including the community and hospitals.
  • To be able to maintain concentration and focus to fulfil delegated tasks.
  • Be skilled in undertaking delegated tasks in the implementation of rehabilitation packages and provide feedback working under the direction of a registered practitioner.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills with both colleagues and services users.
  • Competent with IT and the ability to use clinical systems

  • To collect and input statistical information as required.
  • To participate in and support the team in undertaking clinical audit.
  • To actively promote the implementation and upholding of policies, procedures, guidelines and directives, along with relevant statutory measures and governmental directives.
  • To assist in general administrative duties as required including dealing with messages, photocopying, filing, receptions duties and appointment management.
