Are you ready to step into a Consultant level post and lead, develop and shape psychological provision across the Urgent Care Pathways in South Staffordshire? The Urgent Care Pathways are located across the East and West of South Staffordshire and include Liaison Psychiatry, Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment, Adult Acute In-patient wards and Older Adult Acute inpatient wards.
Due to MPFT's expansion of the psychological professions and psychological provision in Urgent Care, we are excited to be recruiting a Consultant Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to take a leadership role across this pathway.This is a new role and represents a unique and exciting opportunity to develop the post from the ground up to meet the psychological needs of service users, their carers and families and your multidisciplinary colleagues working alongside you in the service.

There are two elements to this role. The first involves providing highly specialist psychological care within the Liaison Psychiatry Services in the East and West of South Staffordshire, working directly and indirectly with service users, their carers and families and multi-disciplinary teams. The second element of the role will see you provide a leadership role over the Psychological Practice provision across the rest of the Mental Health Urgent Care Pathways in South Staffordshire. You will lead a team of experienced Clinical, Counselling and Assistant Psychologists and we therefore encourage applications from suitably experienced Psychologists who have experience of clinical leadership, service development and supervisory experience in the field.
The teams that form part of our Urgent Care Pathway are well established and friendly teams and they work in offering assessment and short-term intervention and treatment, for service users both in the community and for those requiring an admission to hospital. Psychology is highly valued in the trust and further psychological development within services is strongly supported. This is a time of great change and opportunity and the collective leadership team is open to embracing new and innovate ways of working, and you will be at the forefront of contributing, influencing and shaping services. This will include developing psychology care pathways and establishing the procedures and governance processes within these, as well as, delivering high quality trauma informed care.
Whilst the successful candidate will be expected to work between the two geographical sites (based in Stafford and Burton), flexible working will be supported where possible. The successful candidate can also expect to be well supported and receive regular managerial, clinical and professional supervision. The Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (MPFT) is a very progressive Trust for Psychology staff and the successful candidate will also be well supported by a rich network of psychological clinicians of all grades across Mental Health Psychological Services. CPD relevant to the role will be available and encouraged, including leadership development and training. The Trust has a robust in-house Super Series Leadership training programme. Training and interests are further supported through a range of supervision and interest groups, and a robust and collaborative appraisal process.
We have strong links with the Clinical Psychology Doctorate course at Staffordshire University, the Counselling Psychology Doctorate course at Wolverhampton University and the Clinical Associate in Psychology course at Keele University. The successful candidate will be required to offer clinical training placements as well as contributing to other programme activity e.g., teaching and supervising research etc.
