Main duties of the job
The role will be responsible for carrying out maintenance duties for locations throughout the Trust. Maintain buildings and equipment at Hospitals, GP surgeries, Health Centres, Resource Centres, Offices etc.

Job responsibilities
- Carry out the inspection, servicing and maintenance of equipment, premises, plant, equipment, systems and tools, for which training will be provided.
- As instructed by supervisor, carry out planned preventative maintenance tasks, reactive/remedial repair works as per competency and assist in planning works.
- Undertake support worker duties when required to ensure essential continuity of services in line with individuals skills, abilities and competence. Examples include but not limited to:

- Grounds maintenance including snow clearing and gritting
- Water temperature checks
- Painting support
- Two-man working support
- Radiator / Fan cleaning
- Lamp/light tube / bulb replacements
- Fire alarm and emergency light testing
- Meter reading
- Drain and gutter clearing
- PAT testing
- Ladder / Step checks (Inspector)
- Access arrangements (Chaperoning Contractors)
- Lift Inspection
- Basic plant maintenance (e.g. softener salts)
- AHU filter replacement
- Undertake a range of maintenance duties whilst at all times observing all relevant Health and Safety guidelines and Regulations.
- Follow relevant Risk Assessments, Method Statements, Permits to Work, Work Orders, etc. and work within the scope and limitations of these.
- Assist in ensuring own Health and Safety and responsible for advising such persons and other colleagues where appropriate.
- Carry out routine duties independently where appropriate to competency, Health and Safety, and allowed with minimal supervision.
- Exchange routine information where appropriate and offers feedback where required.
- Liaise with staff where required, offering advice where appropriate training and knowledge allows.
- Drive and operate a wide range of vehicles, equipment, machinery and tools.

Systems and equipment
- Responsible for ensuring timely completion of PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance) and reactive works documentation / recording requirements, by use of electronic handheld devices.
- Utilise FM software (e.g. MICAD) to ensure adequate and accurate recording of work elements and ordering materials.
- Utilise electronic systems such, e-roster for staff expenses / claims / leave, ESR for staff records, E learning/Training MS Teams, etc.
- Provide work related information to supervisor where required for data management.
- Complete legislative and Trust documentation where applicable (e.g. reporting accidents, adverse incidents).
- Complete service records and/or service documents, log books where appropriate to competence as required (e.g. filter changes, tap temperature checks, ladder inspections etc.).
- Medical gas cylinder changing after suitable training has been received.
- Maintain or provide to supervisor as required such records.
- Provide work related information to supervisor where required for data management.
- Utilise trust Transport and equipment as required to undertake duties of the role.

Physical demands of the job
- Required to cope with the demands of a busy maintenance department both mentally and physically including frequent concentration when carrying out inspections and dealing with interruptions to deal with emergencies.
- Frequent requirement to exert intense physical effort for several long periods both in normal hours and out of hours (on call).
- Occasional exposure to emotional and distressing circumstances.
- Observe a personal duty of care in relation to equipment and resources used in the course of the duties performed on a day to day basis (tools, equipment and stock).
- Use all Trust equipment and other property in a safe and appropriate manner.
- Maintain equipment, fittings and other physical assets required by the job role on Trust and Partners premises.
- Report any misuse of, or faulty equipment to the appropriate person.
- Order and purchase spare parts, supplies, physical assets, stock or other equipment/materials within budgetary limit and which are necessary for the job being carried out.
- Hold a current UK Driving Licence with access to a vehicle to undertake travel as part of the role.
