We are currently recruiting to 3 band 5 OT positions on our well established Rotation. 1) Integrated Mental Health Team, a community based service for adults in Stafford, 2) Older Adult Community Mental Health Team, based in Cannock 3) Forensic Inpatient Mental Health, based at the Hatherton Centre in Stafford. These posts form part of a wider rotation with opportunities to rotate into Adult Inpatients and Early Intervention Services across a range of South Staffordshire locations. Rotational opportunities occur every 12 months and are organised flexibly, taking into account post holders preferences.

Occupational Therapy students, who are about to qualify, are very welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

  • You will be responsible for the Occupational Therapy assessment of care needs and contributing to the formulation of the person's needs and the development of a relevant plan based upon the person's negotiated goals and relevant evidence based interventions.
  • In conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team, you will provide Occupational Therapy interventions to support the person to meet their agreed goals and coordinate and/or participate in the review of progress towards those goals, utilising recommended outcome measures, involving the service user and any identified carer throughout the clinical pathway.
  • You will be working in a variety of community and inpatient mental health services and geographies. This may require flexibility working across pathways, dependent on skill and service need.
  • Delivering a high quality clinical service to patients and their families.

The post will involve taking responsibility for your own caseload of service users for which you will care coordinate. There will be balance between generic and profession specific work. The environment can be fast paced and challenging, however, highly rewarding with ample opportunities to use existing OT skills and for growth of new skills.
