The
maternity services at Leeds Teaching Hospitals continually strive to provide

We
are seeking to appoint an inspirational, influential leader who is confident
and dynamic and wishes to progress their career in midwifery leadership
within the Antenatal Ward at Leeds General Infirmary.
The
ideal candidate will be visible with excellent communication and
organisational skills to provide leadership and coordination of the areas of
direct responsibility and support all other areas of the Clinical Service
Unit as required.
Using
strong leadership, communication, influencing and negotiating skills you will
lead in the provision of expert advice, support and guidance to the maternity
team.

Main duties of the job
You
will be a role model and empowered to influence further developments in
Midwifery and respond to National Maternity Transformation plans across the
unit, acting as a liaison point and contributing to the continual development
of maternity services. You will have a passion for developing staff and
creating a learning environment in your area and demonstrate exceptional
situational leadership enabling and empowering your teams.

PURPOSE
LTHT
is made up of two large teaching hospitals and has an annual birth rate of
over 10,000. The post holder will work
at both acute units and liaise with relevant health professionals within the
Trust and primary care colleagues in Leeds.
The
role requires direct management of a team of midwives and maternity support
workers.
The
jobholder is responsible for the ward/department clinical budget as
determined by finance for each year.
The
Jobholder will have responsibility for the effective and efficient management
of the maternity ward/department).
They will provide clinical and professional management and leadership
for the team. The jobholder is responsible for ensuring the assessment of
care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes
of care are maintained to a high standard.
They will manage the administrative and financial aspects of
Ward/department and ensuring cost effective use of resources,
