Are you seeking an exciting new clinical and managerial challenge in a highly supportive Clinical Service Unit (CSU) with fantastic learning opportunities? Do you have a passion for safe and effective care provision for the General Internal Medicine (GIM) speciliaty and have significant junior management experience or equivalency from another role? If so, this Ward Manager post may be your role. The role is based on Ward J26, a General Medical Base Ward with a speciliast interest in Endocrinology managed by the Specialty & Integrated Medicine CSU.
We are looking for a Band 7 Ward Manager for our 26 Bed GIM Endocrinology Specialty Ward. The ward manager will be responsible for the safe and effective running of the ward, recruitment and management of staff, have clinical experience in caring for a diverse range of patients, be a strong and empowering leader- leading by example to promote the Leeds Way Values. Our ward manager will have knowledge and experience of budget management and promotion of sustainable working, experience in change management and implementation, and be confident in their communication skills.

Main duties of the job
It is essential that you are able work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to support the development of the ever expanding GIM service. The successful applicant must have excellent organisational and time management skills with an aptitude for problem-solving in a fast paced environment. You must have excellent clinical knowledge and skills, as you will be required to care for patients with different medical requirements. You will need to be a good communicator, be self-motivated and be able to influence and drive innovative practice within a fast-growing and exciting speciality setting.
The job holder will continue to be responsible for the effective and efficient nursing workforce management in Ward J29. They will provide the nursing team with professional, clinical, and managerial leadership and supervision. The job holder is responsible for developing and maintaining the ward philosophy that has the patient at the centre of compassionate, safe and quality care delivery. Through managing the administrative and financial aspects of the ward,the job holder will ensure cost effective use of resources.

About us
Ward J26 is a General Internal Medicine Ward at St Jamess University Hospital. It is a 26-bed ward, accommodating a mixture of female and male patients. Our team is hard working, and passionate in delivering high quality care. In GIM we pride ourselves in the flexibility and adaptation of our approach to be able to meet the varied care requirements of our patients to provide individualised holistic care. Being GIM speciliaity we care for a wide range of patients with a diverse range of illness.
Successful candidates will be responsible for managing staff and working in close collaboration with the MDT across Specialty Integrated Medicine.
