Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and motivated nurse to take on a 12-month secondment as a Senior Sister/Charge Nurse within our Interventional Radiology Theatres team. This role offers the chance to lead and support specialist teams across both St Jamess University Hospital and Leeds General Infirmary, delivering high-quality care in a fast-paced, technical environment.

Main duties of the job
You will work closely with senior nursing and radiographer leads to ensure the safe, effective, and patient-centred delivery of care. This is a unique leadership role within a multidisciplinary setting, managing complex procedures and supporting high standards of clinical practice, safety, and governance within a theatre environment.
In this role, you will:
Lead, motivate, and support a skilled team of nurses and AHPs
Manage daily procedure lists including patient flow, staffing, and resources
Promote excellence in patient safety, experience, and outcomes
Drive service development, audits, and quality improvement
Support junior staff through education, development, and supervision
Foster a positive and inclusive team culture in a high-acuity environment
Support the development and implementation of a 24-hour stroke service, enhancing access to time-critical interventional care
This secondment is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced nurse to step into senior leadership, broaden their skills, and contribute to the ongoing growth of an innovative and vital specialist service.

The Radiology (CSU) plays a crucial role in supporting patient care across the Trust. We provide a wide range of imaging and interventional services, including IR, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, and X-ray, using advanced technology.
