Leeds Teaching Hospitals

Radiographer (XR06)

The closing date is 04 June 2025

Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience in one of the largest Nuclear Medicine departments in the UK. We are offering an opportunity for up to 27 hours per week, for a 9 month secondment period. Leeds Nuclear Medicine consists of 6 gamma cameras over 2 sites, 4 of which have hybrid CT capabilities. We deliver a wide range of diagnostic imaging techniques, including bone, cardiac, kidney, brain, parathyroid, gallbladder and lymphatic imaging. We also image some paediatrics and incorporate non-contrast diagnostic CT lists, making full use of the technology available whilst also offering professional development to our clinical team.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Radiographer or Technologist with either experience in Nuclear Medicine or other relevant areas of Radiology, to join the current team. Applicants should have significant clinical experience post Radiography qualification, or equivalent for Technologists. A keen interest, enthusiasm to learn and relevant experience in other modalities in Radiology is essential. Some knowledge of Nuclear Medicine or CT imaging would be preferred, but not crucial. The candidate would ideally be competent in IV cannulation, or willing to undertake training to do so. The successful candidate would be required to rotate between the two sites in Leeds, St James Hospital and Leeds General Infirmary.

Main duties of the job

You will be expected to participate in all aspects of the Nuclear Medicine imaging service, including quality assurance of gamma cameras, clinical scanning of patients (adults and paediatrics), processing of images and injecting radiopharmaceuticals. Previous experience of IV injecting/cannulation would be beneficial, but training can be given. Due to the nature of the work, radiation protections knowledge would also be advantageous, however full training will also be given. The department operates Monday to Friday, with a number of flexible working patterns available over the working week. The Trust actively supports continuing professional development, and a staff appraisal system is in operation throughout the trust.
