Leeds Teaching Hospitals are seeking enthusiastic, self-motivated, caring individuals to work in the role of a Radiography Assistant, working flexibly between Chapel Allerton and Seacroft Radiology Departments.
This is an exciting opportunity for committed individuals to become part of a friendly and supportive team, working alongside and assisting Radiographers, Sonographers, Radiologists, Radiography Assistants & Admin staff, within busy clinical environments that offer a wide variety of diagnostic procedures, including MRI, Ultrasound, X-Ray, CT and Fluoroscopy.
The role consists of both patient care/clinical duties and administrative/clerical tasks. This may include; patient care and assistance during diagnostic procedures, providing physical support to patients (when necessary), electronic booking of imaging requests, answering telephone enquiries and assisting accurate documentation on the Radiology CRIS system.
Level 2 qualification in a relevant health care related subject is required for the post. Previous NHS experience is not essential but is desirable. Appropriate training will be provided.
Both departments operate an extended working week, and the post holder will be expected to contribute to the 7-day service and evening working.
The post is 1.72 WTE. Full and Part time considered.
Main duties of the job
Main Duties
Clinically support the Sonographers, Radiographers and Radiologists
Carrying out policies and procedures as specified by the Trust and Radiology Management Team
Responsible for the care of patients requiring imaging
Assisting staff with interventional procedures and adhering to aseptic techniques
General cleaning
Maintaining high standards of cleanliness in examination and processing rooms and whilst cleaning equipment including mobiles.
Help maintain and care of equipment (including basic reporting faults)
Stock control
Some clerical duties, including inputting data onto the CRIS Radiology System
Escorting patients in and out of the examination room.
Assisting with the safe moving and handling of those patients who require it.
When necessary, attending to the patient's personal hygiene requirements.
General help and assistance to the radiographer / radiologist throughout the patient's examinations
Clerical duties to include electronic booking imaging requests, answering the telephone to receive ward requests / enquiries.
Inputting accurate data onto the computer system
To present self at work with a professional appearance and disposition
