Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Genomic Practitioner to join the Leeds Clinical Genomics Service. The role is initially fixed term for 12 months.
Main duties of the job
The Genomic Practitioner will facilitate the smooth running of the patient information collation service and provide additional clinical and administrative support as required for Clinical Genomics service provision. The Genomic Practitioner will also assist to deliver Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) pathways within Clinical Genomics as this becomes a routine service for patients and families. The post holder will support appointments for WGS, including arranging blood samples, and liaising closely with clinicians and the laboratories to ensure smooth running of patient pathways. The Genomic Practitioner will be supervised by Consultant Clinical Geneticists and Genetic Counsellors and supported by the patient pathway admin team.

It is essential that the post holder is able to manage his/her own workload on a day-to-day basis and prioritise their work to meet deadlines.
A full UK driving licence is required, together with provision of a car.
About us
We are one of 3 Clinical Genomics Services within the North East & Yorkshire Genomic Medicine Service Alliance (NEY GMSA), and provides Clinical Genomics services to a diverse population of 3.8 million across a large, varied geographical area. The service comprises an experienced team of Consultant Clinical Geneticists, Genetic Counsellors and Genetic Research Nurses/Practitioners, as well as junior doctors and trainee Genetic Counsellors, supported by a large clinical administrative team.
The service is based at Chapel Allerton Hospital in Leeds, with the Central Lab of the North East and Yorkshire Genomic Laboratory Hub situated at nearby St. Jamess University Hospital. Genetics clinics are held throughout the Yorkshire region, and virtually.
