Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and exceptional individual to join the Pathology CSU leadership team as Quality Administrator for Pathology Central Specimen Reception. This post will be a fixed term role for 18 months and offers the opportunity to be part of shaping Pathology transformation as we adapt to a new Laboratory Computer system and move into our new build facility.

Ideally you will already have some experience in quality assurance processes such as basic auditing and incident recording, and will have previous experience of working in a clinical laboratory or other regulated healthcare setting. You will have excellent IT skills (in particular Microsoft Word and Excel) and be able to collate and process data reliably and efficiently to maintain accurate quality records for departmental and external review.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be a key member of the Pathology Central Specimen Reception Leadership team and will play a central role in ensuring the team are able to meet regulatory and quality requirements for clinical laboratories. You will ensure a robust and consistent approach to the delivery of Quality Management and Clinical Governance throughout the department.Duties will include extensive liaising with team members in order to lead audits, risk assessments, compile compliance reports and managing data to provide insight into the health of the quality management system and influencing the team to successfully embed quality assured processes. The successful candidate will also play a key role in helping the department to drive forward its continuous quality improvement agenda, working closely with staff at all levels within the department and other departments in Pathology. This is a varied and interestingadministrative role, and would suit an individual who is happy to approach tasks in an adaptable manner, responds positively to feedback, and is keen to develop their knowledge to work effectively.You will have a passionfor working closely with staff of all grades to help influence and embed a culture of continuousqualityimprovement. You will be able to deliver structured training to staff groups of all grades with enthusiasm and confidence, use your initiative to solve problems, and ensure that objectives set by the Transformation Manager are achieved.

The pathology service at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (LTHT) operates across two large sites (Leeds General Infirmary (LGI) and St James's University Hospital (SJUH)) in the Leeds Metropolitan area, serving a population of around 2.3 million people. We also act as a referral centre serving the wider Yorkshire region and across the country. We work in partnership with Siemens, employing state-of-the-art technology and innovation to deliver laboratory services of the highest quality. Currently the department is undertaking a number of projects, including relocation of premises to a purpose-built laboratory, implementation of Q-Pulse (a QMS management system) and Profiler (an electronic training and competency platform).

The post holder will provide administrative and quality support to the Business Support Manager in achievement and continued fulfilment of the UKAS ISO15189 Accreditation Standards, and other regulatory standards.

The post holder will be responsible for EQMS training and promotion.

The post holder will be responsible for the issue and document control of all policies / procedures and also for ensuring review dates are notified to the Business Support Manager and added to the appropriate document review meeting.

The post holder will support the Business Support Manager in ensuring continuous improvement across all aspects of the Department through audit, patient questionnaires and service improvement initiatives. These activities would involve assessing a range of facts and data sources to ensure quality, consistency and accuracy.

The post holder may be required to support Quality Managers from other areas of Pathology in a variety of audit related activities.
