Job summary

The Jobholder is responsible for the management of a defined caseload. The jobholder carries continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and the setting of standards of care. The jobholder will provide specialist nursing care and advice to a specific patient group and will contribute to the development of the speciality service. The jobholder will ensure cost effective use of resources.

The post holder will work within the Haemophilia nursing team and alongside the wider MDT. They will be responsible for a defined caseload of patients providing support management at key points on their journey.

Main duties of the job

The nursing role includes supporting those with bleeding disorders with treatment. This includes administering a range of coagulation factors and monitoring patients undertaking prophylaxis at home. The team provide treatment to patients undergoing surgery with bleeding disorders across site at Leeds General Infirmary and Chapel Allerton Hospital. The team also support wards caring for patients with bleeding disorders to ensure the best possible care is given.

An exciting opportunity for a 9-month secondment has arisen within the adult haemophilia team at St Jamess Hospital, Leeds. It is a full-time band 6 clinical nurse specialist role.

There are a large number of patients registered with the Leeds comprehensive care centre with a range of inherited bleeding disorders. The adult team are based within Bexley wing, with a dedicated area for treating patients.

Leeds is also a part of a Haemophilia network with York and Bradford hospitals and has a highly collaborative approach to patient care. The team work closely with the paediatric team as well as other health care professionals such as physiotherapists.

The nursing role includes supporting those with bleeding disorders with treatment. This includes administering a range of coagulation factors and monitoring patients undertaking prophylaxis at home.
