Job summary
An
exciting opportunity has arisen for an Administrative chemotherapy
Co-ordinator, to join the Ambulatory, Supportive care and Haematology
Outpatients team on J87 in Bexley Wing, St Jamess Hospital.
We
are looking for someone who can show us that they are enthusiastic, caring,
motivated, and appropriately skilled to promote comprehensive cover for our
clinical out-patient areas. On J87 we pride ourselves on delivering an
excellent standard of care to all of our patients.
This
is an interesting and diverse post which will entail undertaking the
co-ordination of office staff and patients attending for chemotherapy and
other supportive treatments on a busy day unit for up to 80 patients per day.
This important role will include liaising with doctors, specialist nurses,
pharmacy departments and the day unit to ensure that the pathway for these
patients is organised and runs smoothly.
Main duties of the job
The
successful candidate will work closely with and have a supervisory responsibility
for 3 ward clerks. They will coordinate and manage the treatment diaries and
provide a comprehensive administrative/secretarial service to ward J87,
ensuring all relevant information is present for 70-80 patients per day.
The
post-holder will also work on the reception desk of the unit; meeting and
greeting patients; booking appointments and contributing to the maintenance
of an environment for effective care. They will exercise safe keeping of
office equipment, including sensitive data held on the computer, and all
other equipment used.
The
post holder must be able to communicate sensitively and effectively with a
wide range of people including patients, families, medical staff and the
wider multi-disciplinary team.
Experience
of office processes is preferred, although not essential, as a training
period will be included in the induction programme.

- RSA 11 or equivalent standard of typing/word processing
- Applicants will be educated to GCSE standard (or equivalent) English language grade C or above.
