A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to
join the Childrens Haematology and Oncology team as a band 3 clinical support
worker. The highly specialised multi-disciplinary team provide holistic and
expert care to children and young people undertaking stem cell transplants,
cancer care and care for patients with non-malignant haematology conditions.
This position is ideal for a motivated individual who is looking for a new
challenge and to progress in their career. The successful candidate will join
an experienced and dynamic team who are committed to improving the experience
and treatment of young people. You will require excellent communication and
interpersonal skills and be able to work well within a team. This job
advertisement is for full time positions although part time applications will
be considered. Specific unit training is not essential as this will be
provided.
Main duties of the job
Cancer
and serious blood disorders are rare in children and young people, and all our
team are specialists in this field. We believe that high quality care of
children young people depends on successful partnerships between families and
health and social care professionals. Patients and families are central to all
decisions about their care. The jobholder will be actively involved in
providing direct and indirect compassionate care for patients in support of the
multidisciplinary team. The jobholder will undertake a range of delegated
clinical patient care duties under the support and supervision of a registered
practitioner.
The

part of the multi professional team. The jobholder is expected to deliver and
maintain high standards of patient care. The jobholder will be skilled in
taking appropriate action(s) and acting on own initiative to achieve the

jobholder will be expected to lead a team of clinical support workers and
apprentice clinical support workers.

Childrens Hospital is one of the largest childrens hospitals in the UK and is

incorporates a Principal Treatment Centre for Children, and for Teenagers and
Young Adults (TYA) with Cancer. We have a JACIE accredited Stem Cell Transplant
Unit for children and young people, which forms part of the West Yorkshire Bone
Marrow Transplant programme. We care for children and young people with a range
of non-malignant haematological disorders; Leeds is a Comprehensive Care Centre
for Haemophilia and a Specialist Centre for Haemoglobinopathy.
