Band 4 - Nursing Associate

An exciting opportunity has a risen within Theatres and Anaesthesia for keen and eager Nursing Associates to join the Wharfedale Theatre Team. Theatres and Anaesthetics CSU is a thriving and fast paced clinical service unit which provides many different clinical specialities. We are now looking to expand our nursing associate workforce within the teams. The Nursing Associate role within theatres takes on the role of the Scrub Practitioner, within Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) in the role of Recovery Practitioner. You will scrub for a variety of clinical procedures, be accountable for all perioperative care of the patient throughout their surgical procedure and gain an understanding of the procedures themselves. You will also work in the circulating role, supporting the effective running of operating lists, positioning and pressure area care of the patient, organisation of equipment and support of junior members of staff. You will also work in the recovery practitioner role, supporting patients post operatively. Here you will manage patients airways, support with pain relief, monitor and carry out observations before ensuring patients are fit for discharge to the ward. Whilst those with previous theatres and scrub experience would be ideal for this role, we would also welcome those who have not worked within a peri-operative role to apply. As a CSU we have an excellent perceptorship programme that will support you to develop these new skills

Main duties of the job

Clinical

Scrub for Minor, intermediate acute & semi elective cases in the Acute and Obstetric theatre setting.

Support patients in the post anaesthetic care unit, following surgical procedures

Carry out patient cares, observations, monitoring and escalation of deterioration.

Act in the best interests of the people they care for

Communicate with patients and carers.

Maintain and deliver compassionate patient focused care.

Contribute to on-going assessment recognising when it is necessary to refer to others for reassessment

Communicate effectively with colleagues, providing clear verbal, digital or written information and instructions when sharing information,

delegating or handing over responsibility for care

Recognise and report any situations, behaviours or errors that could result in poor care outcomes

Active involvement in the prevention of infection

Improve the quality of care
