Job summary
This
is an appointment for 2 full time Physician Associates in Stroke Medicine at
Leeds Teaching Hospitals. These posts are available to start as soon as
possible.
These
positions will be a split posts between the Stroke Unit and Leeds General
Infirmary and the Stroke Rehabilitation ward at Chapel Allerton Hospital. These
posts will support the expansion of Resident Doctor numbers, and the appointees
are expected to work closely with all members of the Multi-Disciplinary team
members.
Clinical
and educational supervision will be provided with release to appropriate
educational and personal development activities. Successful candidates will be
also expected to develop a portfolio demonstrating competence in appropriate
areas through work placed assessment.
The
posts are suitable for Physician Associates who have already been successful in
the national certification exam and hold PAMVR status.
We
are looking for 2 suitable applicants to start as soon as possible following
pre-employment checks after interviews.
Main duties of the job
This
new post will be a split post between Leeds General Infirmary Stroke Unit and
Stroke Rehabilitation Medicine at Chapel Allerton Hospital, and aims to support
the expansion of the resident doctor programme, both at Foundation and higher
training levels.
The
PA will provide assistance to the multidisciplinary teams in the provision of a
high-quality service to patients. The post holder will work under the direction
of a supervising Consultant and mentor, working collaboratively with other
members of the clinical team within the Trusts policies and clinical
guidelines. The successful appointee will be required to perform delegated
duties with the requisite level of clinical skill and knowledge within the
working environment of Stroke Medicine and Rehabilitation, and it is expected
that they will be able to work well within a team. The post-holder will not be
involved in the assessment of children.
It
is desirable but not essential that the Physician Associate has prior
experience in one or more of the following areas: Stroke Medicine, Care of the
Elderly, Neurology or Neuro-rehabilitation. The post-holders will undergo
training, supervision and accreditation to activities relevant to the
department.
The
Physician Associate role is being developed to work alongside, and in support
of the departments doctors, and the wider multi- disciplinary team members.

to the clinical environm

PA will be required to work as part of the clinical team, under supervision of
a named Consultant, to deliver high quality patient care.
This
will include duties and responsibilities in the following areas:
Clinical
Delivery
and participation in the clinical care of patients.
Successful

working within the specialty.
Provision
of a level of comprehensive health assessment based on a specialist body of
knowledge under established parameters.
Appropriate
