Job summary

Do you enjoy typing? Are you a fully trained, experienced typist/secretary? If so an exciting opportunity has arisen for a departmental secretary in the Neurology department at Leeds General Infirmary. This is a permanent post of 37.5 hours per week and will include some home working once the successful candidate has completed full training.

We are looking for a highly motivated, flexible and hardworking person. Candidates will need excellent typing speeds and accuracy and be able to work as part of a team, under minimal supervision and to deadlines. Previous typing experience in an office environment is essential. A good telephone manner and experience of handling a high volume of typing is essential. The candidate must be able to prioritise their workload and work under pressure.

RSA II in audio/copy typing is an essential requirement to undertake this predominantly typing role, along with GCSE or an equivalent qualification in Maths and English.

About us

The centre for Neurosciences CSU provides the clinical management support for the departments of Neurology, Neurosurgery, Spinal Surgery, Pain, Stroke and Neurophysiology. Mr Robert Rathbone is the General Manager of the CSU, Dr John Steele is Clinical Director and Ms Linda Hayward is the Business Manager for Neurology, Stroke and Neurophysiology.

There are currently 14 medical secretaries in the Neurology department, supported by 1 Business Manager, 1 Patient Services Co-ordinator and 7 clerks.
